MOVIES: Pirates & Superman

We are big fans of Pirates of the Caribbean -- both the ride at Disneyworld and the first movie, The Curse of the Black Pearl, starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, so we were all very excited to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
We lucked out, to be able to see it Opening Weekend at Atlanta's Starlight Six Drive-in -- our favorite place to see movies with three kids!
To make it even better, the double-feature was Superman Returns, which only the oldest of our three was able to stay awake through, but that's what makes the drive-in so great: the kids can snuggle up and go to sleep whenever they are ready, and we can still enjoy a late movie!
We enjoyed both movies, as far as big-screen entertainment goes, however...
I liked Pirates: Dead Man's Chest -- definitely worth the $18 we paid to see it at the drive-in -- but I have to agree with many review points from the hilarious online review by Ask a Ninja (Don't miss The Ninja's review!! ;-):
Mainly, there were lots of plot lines introduced and unresolved...
While I liked Pirates: Curse of the Black Pearl (the first one) more than the new one, I liked Pirates: Dead Man's Chest more than Superman Returns. [Note hubby Russ disagrees, but this is my blog!]
Superman was all right (and worth that $18 for the double-feature), but I'd much rather watch Orlando Bloom (not to mention Johnny Depp!) for two hours than his skinny girlfriend-in-real-life (Kate Bosworth -- who I did love in the movie Blue Crush). The new Superman, Brandon Routh, is okay, in a plastic perfection, Keanu Reeves-school-of-acting (bland) kind of way.
I could have been tired (Superman Returns didn't play until midnight), but I was not impressed with the actors, the story, or the action. Go Pirates!!
