Author Alert - Carolyn Parkhurst
![Date Date](/universal/images/transparent.png)
Carolyn Parkhurst is amazing -- I'm feeling a new favorite author obsession right now. I've just read both of her books:
THE DOGS OF BABEL and
LOST & FOUND, and now we'll have to wait, in eager anticipation, for the next novel from this new contemporary author. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be different from DOGS and LOST & FOUND, as those books are so very different -- plot, characters, style, narrative tone -- it's almost hard to believe it's the same author.
The one thing that remains consistent is Parkhurst's masterful ability to draw the reader in to her characters and her plots, as she rolls it all out. She switches back and forth, among characters and narrative voices, seamlessly to move the action forward, at the same time alternating flashbacks by chapter to fill in the background, revealing the characters, as well as pieces of the overall puzzle along the way. She does this in both books, and is able to bring it all together in powerful and often surprising conclusions.
If you haven't read Carolyn Parkhurst yet, it's time!
